The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) was established in 2008, as one of the six key priorities of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), whose purpose is to contribute to the creation of an integrated Euro-Mediterranean (EUROMED) higher education and research area. EMUNI functions in part as a conventional university and a “hub” institution in the Euro- Med region, with 130 network members (from EU, non-EU Balkan countries, North Africa and the Middle East), thus placing the University in an ideal position to coordinate a transnational project due to its communication and networking expertise. The main activities of EMUNI encompass running Master study programmes, professional upgrading diplomas, summer schools, common study programmes, round tables, conferences, as well as project-based activities and research through EU-funded projects. EMUNI also publishes the International Journal for Euro-Mediterranean Studies (IJEMS).
